Radioland (1980)
Nicolette Larson
Bass
The first time I met her she was singing with Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. Nicolette was lovely and a total sweetheart. Her zodiac sign was Cancer. In 1979 at the No Nukes shows The Doobie Brothers backed Nic on “Lotta Love” and she sang lead vocals with us on “Sweet Feelin”. I was not comfortable with that performance of “Lotta Love.” It was too fast in tempo and that made my part shaky at best. Later in 1980 Nicolette asked me and some other members from The Doobies and Little Feat to be her band on her album Radioland. It was really fun playing on Nic’s album. The songs were well chosen with the composers playing on the tracks in some cases. I used my Music Man bass on her album. Nicolette also sang backup vocals for three songs on our 1980 Album, One Step Closer.
