One of the reasons I have stayed in Santa Cruz for so long is because of the concentration of talented musicians. It’s an insular community and close knit. I like that about it. Before the musicians started hanging out here, there were lots of surfers. Matter of fact, a lot of musicians are surfers. Keith Greeninger is both. I truly admire Keith’s song writing. He’s the best singer - songwriter in Santa Cruz. Keith was doing an interview down at a local radio station and Billy Payne was playing on his new album. I hadn't seen Billy in a long time so, I went down to the radio station to say hello to him, and I let Ketih know how much I appreciated his song writing. I snuck in if he ever needed a bass player to give me a call. That’s how I ended up playing on Human Citizen. It was always a joy to play with him because he would either shorten or elongate the songs. I never knew exactly what was going to happen, so it made playing with Keith really interesting. He has helped to keep our Santa Cruz musician community strong and vibrant with his music.
